A homeowner in Queen Village, Philadelphia hired us to restore and refinish the original heart pine hardwood floors on the first and second floors of her home, along with refinishing her heart pine staircase treads. The project required careful coordination and precise color matching to ensure that the newly refinished areas tied seamlessly into the existing flooring.
Downstairs, the home featured a medium-brown prefinished oak floor in the kitchen that was not being refinished. To maintain visual balance, we matched the downstairs living-area floors with a custom medium brown stain, creating a clean transition between the old and new wood. By opting for natural heart pine upstairs and medium brown stain downstairs, the staircase became a perfect visual break between the two spaces. The client requested refinishing of the treads only, as she plans to bring in her painter afterward to finish the risers in white.
